The Thai language may seem difficult to learn.
This impression arises from the complexity of the written language and the “sing-song” pronunciation.
In this collection, the original phonetic system of Mr Charles Degnau have attenuated these two areas of difficulty :
► The phonetically similar English sounds we will use are simple but close enough to be clearly understood.
► The “sing-song” sound of each word is clearly indicated by means of four special symbols.
► Long and short sounds are clearly indicated by using normal or bold print
But, apart from these difficulties, the language thai offers many encouragements.
► The vowels are always pronounced the same way, contrary to English [ "bad", "ball", "balm", "bar" ]
► Words are not modified to express a particular grammatical function or attribute [e.g. inflection, gender, plural, ...]
